Farol Point Of Light

Farol Point Of Light

Stephine lives on the Farol beach with her family and she is a new believer who opened here home to be used for a kids club ministry. Since January we have been hosting a Saturday kids club that has now blossomed into a secondary ministry for women. Our volunteers decided to invite all the mothers of the kids from kids club to morning coffee while the kids did their club activities. It was a hit!

From there we held a baby shower for one of the expecting mothers and many of the same women attended the party. This inspired Stephine and Ester (Pastor Jeu’s wife) to open a womens group, the same format they have on Tuesdays at our end of the island. This birth the Thursday womens group at Farol with Stephine and Ester as the leaders. We have several women attending since it started on April 20. Pray that the Holy Spirit will draw other women to this weekly meeting of crafts and sharing stories from the Bible.

City Boys On The River

City Boys On The River

The river is massive as we travel around in this small aluminum boat. Claudio and Mario have joined me out on this river to develop kids clubs for some of these small communities. They are both city boy’s who have no idea how to live on the river but they do know that God is calling them to this ministry. They are two of my team leaders that are building a kids club ministry. One is located at Farol beach on my island and the other is Possum Island a small island community. Pray for us as we figure out this ministry together. Pray for wisdom as the Spirit leads them in this ministry.

She Will Miss The Plane

She Will Miss The Plane

As many of you know Ellen is still in the states recovering from her knee surgery. The plan was to return  the first part of May but she will have to miss that flight. After consulting with three doctors they all have recommend surgery for a shoulder injury she received while bicycling here on the island. Bicycles are our major from of local transport to visit people and attend events. It has been a difficult decision because the doctors are not sure how extensive the damage is nor how long she will have to remain in the states to recover. At the moment we are looking at 6 to 12 weeks recovery from this surgery, depending  what is fixed. The surgery is scheduled for May 10. Please pray!

Youth Retreat At Our House

Youth Retreat At Our House

Where do you sleep 35 people at your house. In my case everywhere. It is our joy to host two churches as they have brought their youth out for a three day retreat. They are also exposing them to our island ministry. This morning a group of five headed off to our Farol Kids Club location to run this mornings club. It is exciting to see this new church in voled in this ministry.  It was God’s hand that arranged them to be here and we see God opening a new door for us in ministry. I have been in discussions with this church for the past year to become involved with our Kid Club outstretch. Now they are very interested after   being out here and experiencing a small sip of what we are doing. Please pray that the Lord will open the door for them to become part of our ministry to reach the islands for Christ.

Stingray Sting

Stingray Sting

I have been stopped in my tracks by a stingray. What an experience, they do sting. One of the hazards of  boating on this river is the local fish life who are quite aggressive. On our beaches we do have stingrays and I found mine the hard way. I had been trying to get two teams of youth delivered to a youth retreat. The first day the water got rough so I could only deliver one team. The next morning we set out to take the second team of youth only to be stung while holding the boat. It did not hurt so much at first so I drove the team to the Monkey Island Church. It is an hour and half round trip. When I got back my foot was in fire.

We have a medical clinic on our island and they took care of me as an emergency case. He cleaned the wound and sent me on my way with a prescription for antibiotics. Now I am in bed with a slight fever and a very swollen foot. Pray for my recovery, I have a youth retreat at my place next week with 50 kids.

New River Kids Club

New River Kids Club

This is our new work for Throw The Net Ministry. It is a kids club on Possum Island. It is not a new work but one that has been struggling for a  number of years and we are hoping that the addition of a kids club will open new doors and opportunities. Manual and his wife have been trying to start a new church on this island for a number of years. The plan is to use the kids club and our volunteers to penetrate deeper into the local families as we try to establish new bible studies, though bible storying. The kids club has always been a draw in the community.

This is a part of a lager vision we have for ministry and we are excited how God has provided us volunteers who are willing to take on the river to share the Good News and stories of the Bible. Please Pray for this work and our volunteers.
