Wayne & Ellen Patton Prayer Letter July 2010 Print

It is amazing what goes through your head when you are out on the Amazon in open water passing near rocks at 4am in the morning when it is pitch black. The waves are pounding the rocks, rough water and currents swirl around you as the tide moves out.

We had to move my 23' wooden fishing boat off the beach at 4am because of the outgoing tide. With just paddles in hand, we headed round the point to the other beach where I had stored my outboard motor.  Out on the water with waves pounding the boat only powered by the strokes of my arms, a thought strikes deep in my heart. The reality is we have very little control of our lives. We put our lives in God's trusting hands and risk it all to build His Kingdom. This is where God the Father wants us, total dependance upon Him.

Psalms 89:7-9 A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him? O LORD God of hosts, who is like Thee, O mighty LORD? Thy faithfulness also surrounds Thee. Thou dost rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, Thou dost still them.
Praise God!

Praise God!

The Johnson's have moved out to the island of Cotijuba.

The bandits that held up the Women at the retreat did not harm anyone physicaly.

That the visiting women where keep from harm as they traveled around the city and crossed strike lines.

Our boat motors are all working. Now we just need to finish outfitting the boat.

That the Holy Spirit is using the boat and our naiveness to open doors to reach people with the gospel.

The Blazer is sold. Now to purchase a smaller car.
Prayer Requests:

Ellen has come down with Dengue fever after the team left. She will be in bed for a number of weeks.

That we can get the boat outfitted and the boys out on the water this month. School is out of the month of July.

The Lord will provide a small car in the next few weeks for us to purchase.

Luiz & Fatima asked for prayer for their small group. That the Holy Spirit continues to strengthen these new believers and  open doors for them to share the Gospel with their friends and relatives.

Coca & Lydia need prayer for their livelihood in São Fransisco. Coca has decided to trust the Lord for his daily  sustenance. He will stay in town and make a living fixing cell phones. Pray that the Lord blesses this decision.

Pray for the contacts we are making out on the island of Cotijuba.

The Holy Spirit is opening doors with the man that sleeps on the boat “Psalms 46”. His name is Israel and he is a non-believer.

Luiz & Katcha as we prepare for a few days of ministry with our August Team from the States.

Pray for our August team of 12 people.
