Please pray for Jeremias this weekend as he serves the Lord as our Kid’s Club leader. He is also our boat driver who moves teams and kids around the different islands. He is one of the many volunteers that make the river ministry we have developed work. He has a family of his own and brings his kids along to participate in the ministry. It is common that he will have his son tell the Biblle story to kids at story time. It is exciting to us that our Lord has brought men like Jeremias for us to work with.
We are now in fundraising mode as we travel and visit our supporting churches. There have been some changes in our financial support structure. Costs of gone up and a number of our supporters have died over the past few years. To get us back by June we are seeking one time gifts from friends like you. There is a need of $16,000 in additional support for 2018.
Please consider prayerfully giving a gift this year to our ministry. Our mission will take checks or online gifts. To give online use this link Gifts For Patton, Wayne & Ellen .
To send a check use this link How To Donate. Please keep us in your prayers.
Stephine is leading our women’s group on Thursday Morning. Please pray for her ministry that Ellen and her share. It is a small group of women that meet to make crafts and to hear the word of God told a story. The ministry continues to grow as you lift it to the Lord in prayer. Stephine is a new believer who has a desire to reach her neighbors at the Farol Beach on the island of Cotijbua.
Mario is our Possum island kids club leader. The kids club is located in a remote part of the river 11 miles from where we live on the island of Cotijuba. They will meet Saturday and tell the kids stories, sing and teach them about Jesus. The work is a small but growing slowly. It is in a remote part of the river, so it is difficult to travel too. Pray that we will see fruit in this ministry on Saturday.
Ester is leading our women’s group this afternoon. Please pray for her ministry that Ellen and her share. It is a small group of women that meet to make crafts and to hear the word of God told as a story. The ministry continues to grow as you lift it to the Lord in prayer. Ester is Pastor Jeu’s wife and a teammate our ministry on the island of Cotijbua.
The kids club at Farol Beach on our island of Cotijuba is vital to our ministry.Claudio is a key leader for this kids club. There are anywhere from a dozen kids to a crowded fifty on any Saturday. Claudio and his wife help start this kids club and have work this soil for the past two years. It is his perseverance that has kept the kids club moving forward when things got tough. Please pray that there will be fruit in this ministry as they take the gospel message back to the family of these kids.
Pastor Jue is now leading the Wednesday night meetings. He is providing critical leadership to our small group. Jeu and his family live on our island during the week. On the weekends he returns to his own home and preaches at his church as a full-time pastor. This partnership with the Monkey island church and us has worked out well. It is through his effort that we can return the United States and have our ministry there continue without interruption. The leadership for this church plant is in his hands. Please pray that he will be encouraged by the Holy Spirit and that there will be the fruit of transformed lives.
Ellen is tired of waiting to get well. Here is a picture of her outside working one-handed in the snow. If you look close, you will see she is missing a mitten. Last week the doctor said the did not need to wear the arm sling to immobilize her left arm if she was not doing anything to re-injure it. Ellen is recovering from rotator cuff surgery she had at the end of November. It has been a very frustrating time for her because this is the second time it has been injured this past year. She has physical therapy twice a week with daily exercises. Unfortunately, the recovery time from this type surgery is many months, and it is a painful recovery. She is very limited in what she can do and at this point very frustrated that she has to spend a lot of time sitting one armed.
How can you help encourage Ellen? She likes to get cards in the mail. We are temporarily living in Kettering Ohio. The address is:
