Men Telling The Story

It was such an awesome night with two of our men sharing their experiences from Friday nights evangelistic house visits. My ears were burning as they shared how they were telling the story of Cain and Able and how it impacted the conversation they were having wtih their host. This one-story created a conversation that lasted for over an hour and it was a story this man had never heard. Wow how exciting it was to listen to them.

My Website Crashed

As a missionary, everything is on a shoestring budget, including all the publicity I create. I was working late at night working on my webserver cleaning house; it was a mess and deleted my data from the website. Oops! It took a few days to get most of the data restored from the back up but not this publication. So today, Monday, I am typing it all over again. I like the original version better, though.

Celebrating Marriage

Celebrating Marriage

It was our great joy this year to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the actual day we got married. In past years ministry demands have forced us to move our celebration to several months later, not this year. A friend of ours, an owner of a great restaurant, served us an outstanding meal to help us celebrate. The meal contained a lot of love, and it was a gift to us, an extraordinary gift. We are experiencing what Christ talk about in Matthew 19:27-30, leaving the USA behind the Lord has blessed us with good friends here in this foreign land.

Ministry Restart

Ministry Restart

Summer is over, and August brought the restart of the ministries from the summer break. Only this time it was without Wayne. For us, August was spent at a Biblical Bible Storying Conference in the States along with some family time. It was the first time Wayne set eyes on his granddaughter.

The ministry restart seems to come off without any adverse effects. After returning, there was a lot of question; should we do this, is this ok, and many others but the leadership we have been developing seems to be standing firm, Praise God. Pray for us as we try to have these men continue to be the driving force behind the ministries.

Tuffy’s Prize

Tuffy’s Catch

Life in the Amazon Forest is a bit different. We have all sorts of animals visit our home and a big black dog to protect us from these strange creatures. One animal Tuffy, my dog, has had his eye on for six months is an Armadillo that tried to build a home next to the fence.

It would burrow into the ground and listen to the dog bark at it all night. Last month he found a way to catch and kill this threat to his territory. He did not eat the Armadillo but only give it up as a trophy. Now my friends were thrilled to have cooked Armadillo for a snack. Tuffy is once again famous and my friends are wanting to know what else he can catch for them to eat.

The Plagues Of Egypt

God’s power poured out almost destroying the most powerful nation at that time, Egypt. The Pharaoh thought he ruled the world, it is with irony that God Almighty put him in that position in the first place through the life of Joseph. But 430 years later all of this is forgotten and now Moses declares; Let My People Go! Tune into my podcast. Podcast Lizard Tracks; more info at http://lizardtracks.net

Festive Ending

Summer Break Celebration

It is a moment to celebrate, building a church with Bible Storytelling works! We have been working this church plant for many years utilizing the stories of scripture to evangelize, memorize and disciple people into faith in Jesus the Christ. The road has been rough but the fruit that it bears is sweet. The entire group in our little church numbers around sixty people and at our closing celebration for the first semester about forty-five attended that are pulled from two different locations. Please continue to pray for our ministry on the island of Cotijuba in the middle of the Amazon River.

Building Storytellers

We live on an island in the middle of the Amazon River, but we are five miles from the city of Belem where there is a network of churches we are associated. From these churches, Wayne recruits potential storytellers to help us with our work out on the river. Over the years, we have developed a team of men that will hold a weekend Biblical storytelling seminar. These students learn ten stories from our story cloth that they can share in our extended ministries.

My Best Story Teller

My Best Story Teller

In my international ministry here in the Amazon Delta, I have been working with a handful of men over the years and Luiz is one of them. He is an amazing storyteller when it comes to telling biblical stories. At one point in his life, he was selling popsicles on the bus for a living and telling a free bible story with each popsicle he sold. Even if they did not want to buy a popsicle they story he told was for free.

Now he comes out once a month to our kid’s club on the island where we live to share a fantastic bible story with the kids. It is always a joy to listen to Luiz. Please keep him in payer as he shares God’s Story.

First Church Team

First Church Team

Josiah our son along with Bryson Jackson will be leading a team from First Church in Dayton, Ohio to the island of Citijuba the first week on June. It will be a small team of six people with everyone in their twenties, a young team. In conjunction with this team, we will have Lydia, our daughter, and another young lady from the Canton, Ohio area all meeting here in Brazil. It is shaping up to be a fantastic time.

Please be in prayer for the team, which are not featured in the photo, as they raise money, learn a bit of Portuguese and prepare for some of them to leave the country for the first time. For us, it will be a blessing as two of our children, Lydia and Josiah, will be among the team.
