Building Storytellers

We live on an island in the middle of the Amazon River, but we are five miles from the city of Belem where there is a network of churches we are associated. From these churches, Wayne recruits potential storytellers to help us with our work out on the river. Over the years, we have developed a team of men that will hold a weekend Biblical storytelling seminar. These students learn ten stories from our story cloth that they can share in our extended ministries.

All Bow To Joseph

Joseph is stuck in the King of Egypt’s prison, a far cry from the dreams he had as a teenager where all of his brothers were to be bowing down to him. God will take Joseph from a jail cell and turn him into the second highest authority in Egypt. Come hear the story of how God Almighty molds history and world events. On the web at LizardTracks.net

Tell This Story Over Coffee

To commemorate this exciting story we have created the Joseph Coffee Mug. It can be a great conversation starter as you take this coffee mug to your favorite coffee shop or at home with friends. The question on mug will spark an opening to share the story of Joseph. Available at Zazzle.

  • Pray for our past students who graduated from our storytelling trainaig that are now involved in our kid’s club ministries.
  • Pray for the writing and recording of an Evangelistic MP3 Album – I AM The Bread Of Life, Crafted Stories from Jesus.
  • Pray for the Lord to expand the number of people that receive the SMS Updates.

My Best Story Teller

My Best Story Teller

In my international ministry here in the Amazon Delta, I have been working with a handful of men over the years and Luiz is one of them. He is an amazing storyteller when it comes to telling biblical stories. At one point in his life, he was selling popsicles on the bus for a living and telling a free bible story with each popsicle he sold. Even if they did not want to buy a popsicle they story he told was for free.

Now he comes out once a month to our kid’s club on the island where we live to share a fantastic bible story with the kids. It is always a joy to listen to Luiz. Please keep him in payer as he shares God’s Story.

Gideon The Least Of Them

The story of Gideon is a powerful one, filled with excitement and drama. In the story the men shouted A Sword for the Lord and for Gideon! Yet, not a single sword was drawn by Gideon or his men. The hand of God can clearly be seen as God turns a coward into a valiant warrior. Come join me in this exciting story at my podcast Lizard Tracks. On the web at LizardTracks

Lizard Tracks Mugs

To celebrate the story of Gideon we have produced as part of my Lizard Tracks Story Series Specialty Mugs, the Sword For Gideon Mug. It is a great conversations starter and an opening to help you tell the story of Gideon. Buy your specialty edition mug today at Zazzle.

First Church Team

First Church Team

Josiah our son along with Bryson Jackson will be leading a team from First Church in Dayton, Ohio to the island of Citijuba the first week on June. It will be a small team of six people with everyone in their twenties, a young team. In conjunction with this team, we will have Lydia, our daughter, and another young lady from the Canton, Ohio area all meeting here in Brazil. It is shaping up to be a fantastic time.

Please be in prayer for the team, which are not featured in the photo, as they raise money, learn a bit of Portuguese and prepare for some of them to leave the country for the first time. For us, it will be a blessing as two of our children, Lydia and Josiah, will be among the team.

April High Tides

April High Tides

The March high tides did quite a bit of damage but what little was left standing the April high tides moved in and finished it off. The front of our property where we had a wall and fence was wiped out by the last storm.

The damage was not just limited to our property but all the properties along the beaches of the island of Cotijuba. Now, the end of high tide season is here, and the waters have receded, so it is time to rebuild. We are building a new property wall that has a foundation one meter below where the new beach level has settled. One of the issues remains that foundation is still built on sand. With all the building going on the story we like to share is the parable of the two foundations.

What Foundation Is Your Life Built On?

Ministry Leadership

Ministry Leadership

The challenge in building a church plant and any new ministry is the building of leadership. In the photo, these are the men the Holy Spirit has placed in Wayne’s hands to invest in and pass the baton too as the ministry grows.

Various ministries have been built over the years, so not all of these men live on the same island where I am located. Jeremias, who is on the far left, is heading up the kids club ministries on the island of Cotijuba and possum island. He pilots our boat moving teams and kids around on the river, along with organizing the kid’s club events. Saba, who is in the front to the right, works closely with our Brazilian non-profit agency. He lives in the city where he has access to banks and government agencies.

The rest of the men all live here on the island of Cotijbua and involved in the leadership of the developing church, which this past week took a step forward to be a more formal church and not just a bible study group. Two of the men here, Corderio and Valdiir, took on the responsibility of collecting and dispersing donation for our ministry. You might say they are co-treasures for the church. The leadership has a desire to start funding small outreach ministries, and this is part of the necessary structure to reach this goal. Please pray for these men as they assume these roles.

Telling David’s Story

Telling David’s Story

Working on an Island in the middle of the Amazon River we work with several fishermen. George is an old fisherman who has just recently come to Christ a few years ago. He is now fishing for men and telling the Story of God. Last month he stood in front of our house church and told part of the story of David and Goliath. What is amazing about all of this is that he is a non-reader. Wayne gave him an mp3 player with the recording of the scripture in 1 Samuel. From that, he was able to memorize the story but share it in his own words. It was a great rendition describing the immensity of Goliath.

Joseph Rachel’s Boy

The feature stories series on my podcast Lizard Tracks is the series Joseph Rachel’s Boy. My crafted Bible Story series focuses on the prophecies and God’s guiding hand that stole Joseph from his family in a treacherous act of revenge that took him all the way to Egypt. He is cast into a life of slavery, yet God never abandoned him.

Coffe Mug Of The Month

Jesus told us that “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest”. You are called to work the Lord’s Harvest so to encourage you every morning to remember to work the harvest as you walk through your day. At Zazzel.

Please keep in prayer our old fishermen friend George. He has a big heart but a frail body.

Pray For Baptisms

Pray For Baptisms

Our joy is to see the lost take a step a faith and be baptized. There is a number in our group that is thinking about baptisms but are not willing to take that step of faith, yet.  As we make our plans, we like to end the year with the opportunity for those in our small groups to take the step of baptism.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will intervene in their lives and move their hearts towards Christ. The small seed of faith that they have needs to grow into the joy of the Lord. Our battle is not with flesh and blood but all in the spiritual realm.  This is why we need you to pray weekly for our small group to move them to take that step of faith at the end of the year with the testimony of baptism.

Possum Island Ministry

Possum Island Ministry

The Possum Island Kid’s Club ministry is in recovery mode. Mario, who is in the green shirt, is loved by the community there. Unfortanly last year he had to move away to care for a family member in a distant village. After he dropped out of the leadership and while Wayne & Ellen were in the States, our Possum Island ministry shrunk.  Then there were other issues with the building they were using, so when we returned to Brazil, the ministry was nonexistent.

Our Lord has heard your prayers.  The building was repaired, and Mario is now back living in Belem, the city near us. He desires to step back into the ministry there and pick up where he left off. Please pray for Mario, Jeremias, and Manwell as they rebuild this ministry. They are now gathering Sunday mornings twice a month as the tide permits.
